The Company teaches

ProyectARG considers essential the unity between the business and university sectors in order to favor equal working opportunities for all the people. Because of this, ProyectARG calls all compromised businessmen and universities to join us through the following strategies of action:

1- Training

Through this via you may promote the training of young people and adults in any knowledge that allows them working posibilities, opening doors to the experience of learning.

Capacitación informática

We know that companies require employees trained in specific areas, in new tecnologies, and in tradicional tasks. We count on professionals able to draw up training programs for your staff to achieve the required level.

The project may be combined with the PASANTIAS project that is being carried out.

In order to begin a plan of education/ training and draw up a program that meets your needs, please contact coordinaciontécnica@proyectarg.org, or 4581-2538 from 8.00 AM to 2 PM to agree on an interview..

2- Educational pasantías

No action, links man so strongly to reality as work does. Work inserts man in human community, regulates his bonds and distribution of his possessions. That is to say, work socializes, includes, and strengthens identity. Satisfaction in work may be related th the recognition obtained, or with the product (own creation), or it may derirv efrom pleasure in cooperation, as long as there is a certain degree of autonomy and growth in this process.

Educational Pasantías

The working and educational worlds are different and difficult to articulate. Both are often separated by the absence of an interactive space that promotes communication and unity between them.

Pasante de Casa del Niño

This link should be real, that is the reason why the fact of considering work as a learning methodology, helps us think in an educational alternative where the cultural, economic and political processes of social world may be linked. In this frame, the concept of the educational pasantía emerges as a conciliatory modality where the young people are able to join the knowledge received in the educational institutions with the working world.

“pasantía educativa”, refers to the group of training activities that students develop in companies and public institutions. We consider it as a conciliatory modality that enhances social inclusion and the entrance in the adult world.

1- ¿What are the problems that may be solved with the pasantías?

The question of the Pasantía is very complex in itself, and not incorporated yet in the companies. If we focus in the pasantías of young people of low resources, we may affirm that it is a priority in our country which requires an important support of the schools that do prepare these people for the working world, and also of the companies that should play the role of their tutors in this entrance to such world.

It is esencial to increase the number of companies that may give this chance to the youngsters having the age to work, but who have not had yet the opportunity of a sistematic and enrichening working experience. ProyectARG adds to this challenge, promoting this articulation.

2-¿Which is the working situation of the young people of low resources in Argentina?

In Argentina (2004) there are 9.476.069 youngsters between 15 and 19 years of age, and 21,6% of these young people are unemployed, 13% neither work nor study and 31,3% live in poor conditions.

In Capital Federal and el Gran Buenos Aires live 2 million youngsters between 15 and 24 years of age. More than 400.000 dropped out from school and can´t find a job. The instability and lack of working protection are frequent conditions among the youngest workers, in poor families there is a 50% of youth unemployment

Data given by Fondo de Población de las Naciones Unidas (FUNAP) and by SIEMPRO (System of Information, Monitoring, and Evaluation of Social Programs, from the Ministerio de Desarrollo Social y Medio).

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

3-¿Why is it necessary the incorporation of these young people in the culture of work?

In a weakened context of the working market, the occupational inclusion of the youth is critical, especially for the lowest educational levels and/ or for those of ignored social context. Considering this situation, some public policies have been adopted in order to favour the process of working inclusión.

The implementation of these policies is part of what we know as “the new role of the State”. On one hand, they are social policies focused on groups under critical situations, but, at the same time, it is the state entity the one that allows the flexibility of the working market , and of training in the frame of what it is called as productive restructuration.

The declining posibilities of the youth in the working market coincided with an increasing demand of higher educational levels, which reinforces the exclusión of those young people in a not favourable social situation, who have dropped school in their early times, or at the most, get a high school degree, being very few who are able to get a University degree.

---------------------------------------------------------------------

4- ¿How may the education for work be learned?

The education for work should begin with the idea that “to teach-to learn” makes work an space of learning, production and socialization.

The student goes to this space in order to put into practice the knowledge he has acquired, organize, deepen and develop them through the constructive participation of the actors with the teachers orientation, the support of the community, of the institutions of goods and services, political, social educational entibies amd teachers who may give the young person opportunities to play different roles, and acquire knowledge related with the performing of different occupations

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

5-¿How does ProyectARG face the question of pasantías?

1) We have a list of pasantes with posibilities to enter the working world.

2) These young people are supported by the department of the Casas del Niño y del Adolescente (Houses of Child and Adolescent) de la Dirección de la Subsecretaría del Menor y la Familia del Gobierno de la Ciudad.

3) The team of proffessionals makes the selection of the candidates according to what the company has requested, considering the vocational expectations and the abilities of these young people.

4) Then, a meeting for interchange is held with the person in charge of this hire, the team of Orientation and work inclusión, and a representative from ProyectARG. Once agreed on the basic criteria of the pasantías, an agreement is signed with a detail of the responsibilities of each.

5) A follow up is made by the team and it is articulated with the company in order to work or solve the dificulties that may appear in the process.

6) The company may, if it is its desire to do so, hire the pasante as an employee and/or close the pasantía without taking a further compromise other than to have given the possibility to a young person of an approach to the culture of work.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
