The Fair Consumer

Objectives

The objectives of fair consumption are based on principle axis of solidarity behaviors:

• Foster awareness of Argentine society as multicultural country.

• Participate in actions to defend indigenous rights as acts and cultural events.

• Articulate the needs of indigenous people and communities engaged in micro enterprises in order to promote the sale of their products on the market.

• Disseminate written materials, literature, graphic and audio, etc., to promote their products and allowed these communities to earn their livelihood in dignity.

• Support and guide the craft production of indigenous and native artisans to boost his Argentine social work.

3- What do we ask to solidary buyers?

1- The Fair Trade is a business, and as such, must also cover the cost of transportation, customs, taxes, distribution. In addition to the costs of the premises where it sells products (light, taxes, rent, etc.) What sets it apart from traditional trade is the higher price that is paid to the producer with which it is possible to access to a life more dignified, considerating the stability and the direct relationship of mutual respect with this producer. This is an alternative to traditional trade. Faced with the purely economic criteria of the latter, takes into account, in addition, the ethical values that encompass both social and ecological aspects. We are referring to a fair price because it must cover production costs, and allow producers to have a life of dignity and reserve a part for social purposes: school, health, housing, etc.

2- The producers are guaranteed a fair payment for their work; producers must allocate a portion of their profits to the basic needs of their communities, establishing a long-term relationship, and are guaranteed a portion of paying for products in advance; in this way it is avoided child exploitation. The advantage that producers get from the production sold in this way allows them to improve their training, the ability to organize and manage their work.

3- To solidary buyers we summon them to participate in a movement based on the dignity of work, creativity in the community,in strengthening ancient traditions that remain in force, in the possibility of supporting these communities, not only their livelihoods but mainly in the dignity of being able to win the support they need to continue living in their communities.
